In our small community there is always a need for volunteering. The recent effect of the slow economy has hit Athens County hard, and many agencies and organizations are stretching budgets to help our residents. Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

"COAD became the sponsoring agency for the RSVP program in Athens and Hocking Counties starting September 1, 2009...RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans (55 and older) with opportunities to help solve community problems. Meals on Wheels

"The Central Kitchen provides Meals-On-Wheels, Monday through Friday, to the homebound elderly. It also provides daily lunches for children participating in the Head Start Program in the three counties as well as to seniors choosing to eat at one of the senior centers in Athens and Hocking counties. Over 1200 meals are prepared to ensure that the elderly and children receive a nutritionally balanced meal each day.
