Athens Mobility Management: A Brief History

Narrate This Page

The Athens Mobility Coordinator is the direct result of the establishment of the Ohio Coordination Program by the Ohio Department of Transportation's Office of Transit and the Federal government's SAFETEA-LU legislative act. In order to apply and qualify for the Ohio Coordination Program grant each county had to have a completed Coordinated Public Transit/Human Services Transportation Plan.

In 2007, the Athens County Commissioners authorized the Ohio University Voinovich School to undertake the process of creating the Coordinated Plan. As a result of the completed plan, the Ohio Coordination grant was secured.

A multi-agency Athens County Transportation Advisory Group was assembled to direct the activities needed to establish the Athens Mobility Coordinator position. Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) was contracted to administer the grant and hire the mobility coordinator.

On March 5, 2010, HAPCAP announced that Lantz Repp was hired to be the Athens Mobility Coordinator.
